Manuel Zoia Gallery è lieta di invitarvi all’inaugurazione della mostra New Icons, prima personale a Milano dell’artista lituano Krzysztof Sokolovski. L’esposizione presenterà un corpus eterogeneo di lavori: diversi media, installazioni e opere a parete, ridefiniranno lo spazio della galleria secondo la poetica dell’artista stesso.
Krzysztof Sokolovski è artista visivo la cui ricerca si esprime in dipinti, oggetti luminosi, installazioni e pittura monumentale. È inoltre creatore del concetto di arte neo-sacrale: lavora su un’arte sacra moderna, fondata sulla tradizione visiva e sulle teologie di diverse culture. Per l’artista, il progresso della civiltà non può essere diretto unicamente da saperi scientifici e tecnologici, ma deve essere accompagnato da una controparte metafisica. Così, la codificazione astratta della fede diviene l’unico modo per salvare la spiritualità dell’essere umano contemporaneo.
Krzysztof Sokolovski nasce a Eišiškės in Lituania. Dal 2003 vive e lavora in Polonia. Si è laureato all’Università di Tecnologia di Danzica (Facoltà di Ingegneria Energetica) e all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Varsavia (Facoltà di Pittura). Inoltre, l’artista ha seguito un corso di anatomia clinica presso l’Università di Medicina di Danzica. Sokolovski ha creato cappelle neosacrali a Klebark Wielki (Polonia) e nel convento delle suore salesiane a Gerusalemme. È inoltre molto attivo nell’ambiente dell’est Europa, dove ha preso parte a mostre personali e collettive in Lituania, Polonia, Slovacchia. Nel 2016 arriva ad esporre anche in America presso, Evelyn E. Jorgenson Gallery, Moberly, Missouri.
